Our History
With over 40 years of leadership, Montessori Canada has a rich history of promoting educational excellence and continuous improvement of Montessori practices, including accreditation. Originally called the Canadian Council of Montessori Administrators (CCMA), it was founded in 1977 by a group of dedicated administrators committed to supporting each other and promoting authentic Montessori education to the public.
From the beginning, the CCMA focused on establishing standards of excellence for Montessori schools and fostering a collaborative community. Through rigorous accreditation processes and ongoing professional development, the CCMA ensured that Montessori schools maintained high standards.
Today, as Montessori Canada, we continue that legacy of excellence and community. We have expanded our mission to encompass not only administrators but also educators, families and Montessori supporters. Our goal is to support Montessori schools in delivering the highest quality of Montessori education to children in their communities and making it accessible to more families across Canada.
