Tracey Carter
As the Executive Director of Montessori Canada, Tracey Carter is dedicated to strengthening and cultivating the Montessori community across Canada while remaining deeply rooted in Maria Montessori’s teachings. She is passionate about the Montessori philosophy and its emphasis on independence, curiosity, and respect for each child’s unique journey. Montessori’s transformative principles align closely with her personal values and inspire her work every day.
With over 20 years of senior management experience, including leadership roles in award-winning organizations and consulting for federal and provincial governments, Tracey brings a strategic perspective to Montessori education. Coming from outside traditional Montessori circles, she embraces her role with creativity, flexibility, and adaptability. Tracey’s recent work, leading and advancing national child advocacy and collaborative practice strategies, created a strong foundation for the work ahead with Montessori Canada.
These words from Maria Montessori resonate deeply with Tracey in her work within the Montessori Canada Community, “There is a vital force in every human being which leads them to make ever greater efforts for the realization of individual potentialities. Our tendency is to realize them. Joy and interest will come when we can realize the potentialities that are within us.”
Tracey is continually inspired by the dedication of Montessori educators and school leaders who work tirelessly to support children and families. Their unwavering commitment reminds her of the profound impact Montessori education has on shaping confident, independent learners. It’s a privilege for her to lead an organization that champions these principles and nurtures environments where children thrive.
